FRI, Foundation for Research and Innovation

FRI is a private nonprofit association founded by University and Metropolitan city of Florence, having as supporting member the bank foundation of the Savings and loans of Florence. FRI promotes and manages R&D and knowledge transfer projects involving the University of Florence and other research bodies and/or firms, facilitating the activation of projects and exchange of best practices on technology transfer and job placement with industries, SMEs and public administrations, as well as national and international organizations. Specialized personnel called “Technological Agents” operates to understand companies’ needs and objectives, to promote development of innovative projects between companies and research centers and to mind the gap between market needs and innovation process of firms. FRI is also member of the Italian Technology Cluster for Smart Communities, promoting one of its 4 pillar initiatives focused on tourism.

FRI also support strategic entities for local promotion as “Toscana Promozione Turistica”
