Greek Pilot Courses
Leader: HOU (Hellenic Open University)
HOU, in collaboration with Epimelitirio Ilias (EPI), delivered the following two blended learning courses, through the Lifelong Learning Center of Hellenic Open University:
- “Inclusive Tourism Frontline Staff” (ITFS)
Level: EQF5
Total workload: 500 hours over a period of 7 month (full-time) – 25 weeks
Credits: 20 ECTS
Certificate: Successful trainees receive a Continuing Training certificate from Lifelong Learning Center of Hellenic Open University.
Entrance requirements: Graduates of Tourism Departments, Business Administration Departments or related departments, graduates of Vocational Training Institutes (IEK) programmes with a focus on Tourism. The trainees should be employees of companies that fall within the Tourism sector. Knowledge of English language (B2 level), basic computer skills, internet access are required.
Expected participants: 20-30 - “Inclusive Tourism Manager” (ITM)
Level: EQF6
Total workload: 550 hours over a period of 7,5 month (full-time) – 27,5 weeks
Credits: 22 ECTS
Certificate: Successful trainees receive a Continuing training certificate from Lifelong Learning Center of Hellenic Open University.
Entrance requirements: Graduates of Tourism Departments, Business Administration Departments, or related departments, working as senior managers or owners in companies/ institutions in the tourism sector. The trainees should be employees of companies that fall within the Tourism sector. Knowledge of English language (B2 level), basic computer skills, internet access are required.
Expected participants: 20-30
The learners in both courses had to study the provided online material, and had access to additional material for further reading. They self – assessed their knowledge through quizzes in each Module, and collaborated with their peers in platform fora. In the virtual learning sessions with tutors, trainees were able to ask questions, resolve problems, implement collaborative learning scenarios, and review the theory delivered through the online learning materials.
The main part of the training was conducted in the form of Distance, Modern / Asynchronous Training (Tutor Supported). The course involved practical work-based learning at the trainee’s workplace, based on specific assignments.
