German Pilot Courses

Leader: FHD (Fachhochschule Dresden – University of Applied Sciences)

FHD delivered the following two courses:

  • “Inclusive Tourism Frontline Staff” (ITFS)
    Level: EQF5
    Timing: 500 hours over a period of 9 months
    Credits: 20 ECTS
    Certificate: students receive a Lifelong Learning Certificate of this university and/or of Chamber of Industry and Commerce
    Entrance requirement: vocational training
    Expected participants: 20-25 participants from local colleges and professional schools as well as professional associations or Chamber of Commerce
  • “Inclusive Tourism Manager” (ITM)
    Level: EQF6
    Timing: 550 hours over a period of 9 months
    Credits: 22 ECTS
    Certificate: students receive a Lifelong Learning Certificate by our university (equivalent to 1 semester in a bachelor’s degree program) and/or of Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
    Entrance requirement: vocational qualification in gastronomy, hospitality, catering, and sector and at least 2 years of professional experiences in that field; or equivalent certificates such as certified “Tourism Assistant” (recognition of credits from previous trainings will be reviewed).
    Expected participants: 20-25 participants from local colleges and professional schools as well as professional associations or Chamber of Commerce

The participants were recruited online as well as by direct contact. Both educational programs involved highly qualified permanent academic faculty members from the University and students benefitted from acquiring an additional qualification that provides them with a specialisation in the Tourism working area.

The students’ performance was assessed by a combination of course attendance, course work, written/oral final exams, and practical assignments.
